SWAY – The Life (Official Video)
There is an empty space in the music industry today and only a very particular act can fill it.
Los Angeles based SWAY grabs at a multitude of styles, draws in an element of their choosing and adds it to the fusion that is their undeniably intriguing pop sound. Combined with the double-edged coarse yet sleek utterance of Freddy Hale in your audible focus, SWAY’s sonic landscape consists of darkly keys and ambience toughened by Cadu Costa’s hard hitting drums, Niklas Myrback’s smart sharp-toned guitars and Daniel Juter’s booming bass lines versus moody synthesizers.
There is often an underlying empathy in Freddy’s lyrics for the kings of anxieties so many feel. Just as often his romantic endeavors are explored in either hopeful or gritty, cynical light. Regardless of what he chooses to express, it comes in the form of a contagious hook every time.
At first glance the band showcases mystery and seems to thrive inside of a glossy and refined packaging, although at a closer look they provide honesty and authenticity to their audience. SWAY is Freddy Hale, Niklas Myrback, Daniel Juter, and Cadu Costa.
Here is what Freddy had to say about SWAY’s song, The Life. “I wrote The Life during a brief phase of being single and lonely, and when you’re alone you sometimes reflect on things like past relationships and encounters. I was feeling like I belong more to my music than any girl I’ve been with and that might be the reason why it never worked out. One in particular whom I was more seriously involved with and I still didn’t let her get in the way of my dream of becoming a real artist. When I wrote this song I still had mixed feelings about our breakup, and lines like “maybe I should have looked in your eyes and said to myself I’m satisfied to live like this, maybe I should have looked in your eyes and said to myself I’m cool with the house, the car, the kids” acknowledge some of the doubt and wondering if I made the right choice to leave her and pursue “the life”, a life of music and committing to my artistry fully.”
