Calvin Hill – Nothing Else

Calvin Hill is a nineteen year old Hip hop artist from Charlotte, North Carlonia. Calvin has always been a religious person, having scriptural values instilled into him from a young age. He began using hip hop music as a tool to reach his community when traditional outreach tactics could not. Calvin has released two mixtapes addressing topics such as poverty, pride, suicidal thought, and depression. Calvin hopes to ignite positive changes in his community through music.

In “Nothing Else” Calvin offers insight to a man who has money, luxury vehicles, lavish homes, and exotic women. These are all things which men praise and covet in this world. Although it looks like he has everything a man could want, he lacks inner peace. This is the reality that Calvin masterfully gives insight to using multiple cadences over two eerie instrumentals.

“Make Music” provides the right vibes to kick off summer 17′. Calvin and Devon share the sentiments that every true musician have, they just want to “live life and make music”. “Make Music”, which is produced by Tilai Beats, is driven by an infectious horn sample from the live version of Distant Lover by Marvin Gaye accompanied by two strong verses by Calvin and Devon. Calvin and Devon are currently working on a collaboration project which is set to release in the winter of 2017.
